gEAR - gene Expression Analysis Resource web portal

The gEAR portal is a website for dissemination of cell type-specific gene expression from the auditory and vestibular systems in the public domain. The gEAR is based on RNA-seq and microarray gene expression data and presents it in a graphical format corresponding to gene expression levels. Users can toggle between views that represent absolute levels (corresponding to number of reads or probe intensity) and relative levels (corresponding to level of expression between different cell types within each dataset). A variety of expression scoring approaches (gene, cell type/tissue and dataset) levels are available.

The website allows for rapid presentation and browsing of results from groups of genes (e.g. gene families), link-outs to the corresponding pages in other websites, and comparisons of gene expression between different datasets. The gEAR is the product of a collaboration between Dr. Ronna Hertzano and Joshua Orvis from the University of Maryland School of Medicine and Institute for Genome Sciences (IGS). The gEAR is supported by the NIDCD/NIH R01DC013817 and the Hearing Health Foundation (Hearing Restoration Project). We encourage you to deposit your data for public or private viewing in the gEAR!
